Lemon Sticks

(recipe, Rachel Rappaport)

This classic treat from Baltimore's Flowermart festival is nothing more than a fresh lemon paired with a peppermint stick.

  1. 1 lemon, cut in half along the equator (or 2 smaller lemons with the top ends cut off)
  2. 2 soft cane-sugar peppermint sticks (often labeled “old-fashioned peppermint sticks” — see Note)

  1. Place one peppermint stick in the middle of one lemon half. Repeat.
  2. Suck the lemon juice through the peppermint stick (as you would a straw) while squeezing the lemon gently.

A good source of old-fashioned peppermint sticks is Bobs. Be sure to order the Sweet Stripes Mint Sticks.
