Classic Cole Slaw

(recipe, Sarah Wainwright)

Introduction

This is a very simple, classic cole slaw that my mother used to make at Thanksgiving time, she got it from her mother-in-law and so on. It's not fancy, but it tastes so good.

Ingredients

  1. 1 Large Head Green Cabbage
  2. 1 Medium Sweet Onion
  3. 2 Garlic Cloves Minced
  4. 2 Large Carrots
  5. 3 Stalks Celery
  6. 1 Heaping Tablespoon Mayo
  7. 2 Tbsp. Heinz Chili Sauce
  8. Half a Lemon
  9. Salt And Pepper To taste

Steps

  1. Shred the cabbage, 8th to quarter inches strips is good.
  2. Grate or finely chop the onion.
  3. Shred the carrots with a peeler.
  4. Thinly slice the celery.
  5. Mince the garlic, fresh is always best.
  6. Mix all of the above into a large bowl and toss.
  7. Add in the mayo and the chili sauce, squeeze in the lemon juice, toss some more.
  8. Salt and Pepper to taste.
