Bees in Congress

(article, Culinate staff)

With the massive bee die-offs this summer as a result of pesticide spraying, politicians are finally taking action. Democratic Representatives John Conyers (from Michigan) and Earl Blumenauer (Oregon) have introduced H.R. 2692, the Save America’s Pollinators Act, calling for the suspension of the systemic pesticides known as neonicotinoids.

Both the Pesticide Action Network and Beyond Pesticides have posted online petitions in support of this bill. As the Congressional record on the bill itself notes, "Another decade of these mass die-offs will severely threaten our agricultural economy and food supply system."
