Yesterday was Food Day. Whoops, did you miss it? That's OK; after all, you can devote more than one day a year, of course, to Food Day's mission of promoting "healthy, affordable, and sustainable food." And Anna Lappé's new campaign, Food Myths, wants eaters to do just that. Food Myths — a collaborative project with input from the likes of Slow Food USA, Food & Water Watch, and Corporate Accountability International — features documentary videos about food heroes and food myths and suggests that eaters, in the spirit of Meatless Mondays, add Real Food Fridays to the weekly dining mix. Most intriguing, though, is the campaign's challenge to the agricultural establishment with a series of myth debunkers, including hunger and food security, cost and economics, the environment, food safety and health, and marketing and advertising.
