This past holiday season, French expat and pastry chef Helen McSweeney (of the food blog Tartelette) was feeling nostalgic, missing her family as well as all of their wonderful traditional foods. So after putting the finishing touches on some edible holiday gifts, she comforted herself with chocolate pots de crème, which in her words is "just a fancy name for a type of chocolate pudding." She made a small batch and used little jam jars for cooking and serving the creamy dessert. In November, she also made white chocolate pots de crème, topped with dried hibiscus flowers. Both recipes are simple, require only a few ingredients, and look and sound wonderful, holiday or no holiday.
