Carcinogens in alcohol?

(article, Culinate staff)

Before you can blink, it seems, a new study comes out that either celebrates wine for its health benefits or demonizes it for how bad it is for you. This time, it’s the latter, as researchers have uncovered carcinogens in alcohol.

The study found that light-to-moderate drinkers are at little risk. But alcohol is three-and-a-half times more likely to cause cancer in drinkers who consume four or more drinks a day.

Of course, it was only a few months ago that researchers found that red wine can prevent breast cancer. On the other hand, a couple of months before that, another study showed that light drinking can increase the risk of breast cancer.

Our takeaway? If you’re drinking a single glass of wine in the evenings, you’re probably fine. That is, until the next study comes out and tells us otherwise.
