Steamed Green Beans with Garlic
(recipe, Meredith Resnick)
- ¾ to 1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed
- 2 to 4 whole garlic cloves, peeled
- Sea salt, to taste
- Olive oil or melted butter, for serving
- Fill the bottom part of a steamer with a quarter-inch or so of water and add the garlic cloves. Put the green beans in the steamer basket. Cover, bring to a simmer, and steam until the beans have lost just a bit of their natural crunch. Tip into a serving bowl and dress quickly with salt and a little oil or butter.
Culinate editor's note: If you wish to use frozen green beans instead of fresh, simply cook the beans for less time.
