On her Food Politics blog, nutritionist and food-reform activist Marion Nestle recently asked readers for tips on getting involved with shaping the upcoming 2012 Farm Bill and reforming America's school lunches. She provided suggestions of her own (mostly nonprofit organizations) and readers chipped in with other ideas in the comments sections. Nestle is planning to issue updated suggestion lists soon. In the meantime, check out her thoughts on the future of factory farming ("The factory farming system could be greatly improved by forcing the farms to manage waste and restricting use of antibiotics") and the new federal guidelines regulating how junk food is marketed to kids ("Given my druthers, food companies would not be allowed to market directly to children at all"). Straight talk.
