The planet and its food crises

The May/June issue of Foreign Policy is the magazine's food issue, with articles on the global food crisis, world hunger, a photo essay on how our diets define us, articles on the role of food in wartime, and a slideshow on street food. 

Lester Brown, the author of the lead article in the Foreign Policy issue and the president of the nonprofit Earth Policy Institute, also turned up as a source in a recent Guardian newspaper article about the effects of global warming on farming. According to a new report published in Science magazine, crop yields have fallen (and food prices have soared) as a result of the planet's overall rise in temperature. Farming must adapt, the report's authors say — but can we change fast enough?
