Ale à la Française

One of the oldest ways of mixing beer and spirits comes from, of all places, France — the Picon Bière. The drink spices up a simple lager with a dose of Picon, a bitter aperitif flavored with orange, gentian, and cinchona. The addition of a little Picon completely transforms an otherwise boring glass of beer.


  1. ¾ oz. Picon, Torani Amer, or Gran Classico
  2. 5 to 6 oz. beer


  1. Build in a glass and serve.
