garlic mushroom alfredo sauce

Introduction
This is a basic alfredo recipe that I kicked up ..
Ingredients
- ½ stick of butter
- ½ cut to ¾ cup of fresh grated parmesan cheese (parmesan reggiano)
- 1 cup or so of heavy cream (though i have used ½ and ½ before, but its just NOT the same)
- ¼ cup of chopped shitake mushrooms or portabello or even button
- 2 cloves of garlic chopped small
- 2 tsp. of olive oil
- fresh ground nutmeg (just a tad)
Steps
- sautee the chopped mushrooms in olive oil then add the garlic and sautee until translucent but not browned and the mushrooms are tender
- add ½ stick of butter and heavy cream
- once the butter melts add the parmesan cheese
- add the nutmeg
- oh and a little ground black pepper too
- simmer until thickened.
