garlic mushroom alfredo sauce

This is a basic alfredo recipe that I kicked up ..


  1. ½ stick of butter
  2. ½ cut to ¾ cup of fresh grated parmesan cheese (parmesan reggiano)
  3. 1 cup or so of heavy cream (though i have used ½ and ½ before, but its just NOT the same)
  4. ¼ cup of chopped shitake mushrooms or portabello or even button
  5. 2 cloves of garlic chopped small
  6. 2 tsp. of olive oil
  7. fresh ground nutmeg (just a tad)


  1. sautee the chopped mushrooms in olive oil then add the garlic and sautee until translucent but not browned and the mushrooms are tender
  2. add ½ stick of butter and heavy cream
  3. once the butter melts add the parmesan cheese
  4. add the nutmeg
  5. oh and a little ground black pepper too
  6. simmer until thickened.
  7. enjoy
