 h1. Dear readers,

I had never assembled a Christmas pudding of any sort until last night when I made Deborah Madison's Not So Sticky Pudding for a Solstice supper with friends. What a treat! It's gooey, nutty, with a hint of coffee flavor — and fairly easy to pull together. I am a fan. This is not a dessert for everyday, and rich as it is, it might be best reserved for the winter holidays. But what's wrong with one more thing to look forward to in December?

On Culinate this week, we offer several more sweets as well, including Diane Morgan's Cracked Pepper, Dried Cherry, and Chocolate Chunk Biscotti, a dunking cookie that boasts big flavors. (Still working on gifts? You may want to stop in at Sur La Table and pick up a copy of Diane's book, Gifts Cooks Love, which is full of intriguing edible gifts — like this biscotti — and is on sale to boot.)

Here's wishing you sweet holidays with the ones you love.
