First lovely warm day in Sydney and I've got a few days off. Went to the Botanical Gardens and sat in the sun eating sandwiches from Victoire Bakery and watching the baby dusky moorhens, fluffy little black balls with tiny red beaks. Just bliss! Tonight I'm cooking beetroot (and wishing they were freshly dug from my friend Ann's garden in Adelaide) and merguez sausages from the fabulous Churchill's butchers shop in Woollahara. Serving them with a watermelon and feta salad to celebrate the fact that summer is almost here.
