Watermelon Vodka

(recipe, Carrie Floyd)

Introduction

Though this recipe calls for watermelon, feel free to substitute honeydew or other types of melon. Store it in the fridge; shake it up before serving it cold in small glasses. Or turn it into a cocktail by mixing a shot of watermelon vodka with fresh lime juice and simple syrup to taste.

Ingredients

  1. 6 cups cubed watermelon (or another melon)
  2. 2½ cups vodka

Steps

  1. Place the cubed watermelon in a large jar with a lid. Pour the vodka over the top, pushing down on the melon to make sure the melon is covered by the vodka. Fasten the lid.
  2. Set the jar aside for 5 days, then strain the vodka, pressing on the melon to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the melon and pour the infused vodka into a liter jar with a lid.
  3. Store in the refrigerator.
