Fresh food at the drugstore

(article, Culinate staff)

Via the New York Times Diner's Journal blog late last week comes this news flash: Walgreens, the national drugstore chain, has started selling fresh food in some of its Manhattan and Chicago stores. The reason? Those much-maligned "food deserts," urban neighborhoods where fresh food can be hard to come by. Better home cooking, however, isn't the Walgreens goal; the company wants to sell more convenience food, just less processed versions of it.
