Plastic peril

(article, Culinate staff)

In case you missed it a few weeks ago, New Yorker medical writer Jerome Groopman recently tackled the topic of plastic — specifically, whether it's bad for us or not. He starts out with the familiar controversy over BPA before filling in the big picture: the vast variety of chemicals residing in our bodies and the scientific and political problems with trying to figure out which ones are bad, in what doses and combinations, and over how long an exposure period. His conclusion: "While the evidence of these chemicals' health consequences may be far from conclusive, safer alternatives need to be sought."
