Sweet Carrot Halva (Ayurvedic)

  1. 3 large carrots
  2. water
  3. ghee
  4. jaggery
  5. 4 cardamom pods ground
  6. ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  7. 2 Tbsp. ground almonds or dessicated coconut
  8. ¼ cup of soya or rice milk.


  1. Finely grate the carrots (or other vegetables- this is important as thick grating won’t look so appetising!) and add to saucepan. Add all other ingredients (except soya/ rice milk). Simmer with lid on a low heat for 20 minutes until carrots are soft. Add soya/ rice milk to loosen the mixture. As an alternative, halva can be made with carrots (or sweet potato or courgette).
