 h1. Dear readers,
 People who like to talk about cooking and good food eventually wind up discussing their guilty gustatory pleasures. Boxed cookies, say.  

 No matter. Now that she's tried them, Culinate contributor Joan Menefee has become a fan of Tim Tams, the well-loved Australian biscuits. In fact, as a thank-you to Lisa, her long-lost Aussie friend who mailed the cookies her way, Joan sent a bottle of real maple syrup — [/mix/dinnerguest/ofbreadandsyrupinthewisconsinwoods "syrup she and her husband had worked hard to acquire"].

 But really, how much of that Trans-Pacific exchange was about the food? Maybe in Joan's case what made her hungry was the chance to connect with a long-lost friend. At the very least we know it fueled [/mix/dinnerguest/timtamsacrossthewater "a good Tim Tam story,"] which is something indeed.
