Can you really live well without a fridge? Sure, says a couple in Portland, Oregon. They got rid of their fridge and are doing just fine — plus feeling virtuous about their carbon emissions. Check out their 30 tips for dining well sans Frigidaire. Some make total sense (such as "Use an outside food box to protect food from wildlife, pets and light"), while others are a bit off (collecting environmentally unsavvy packets of soy sauce, mayonnaise, ketchup, and the like for one-time usage). Still, it's an old idea made new again; as the couple says, "Remember, everyone lived without a refrigerator a hundred years ago."
