When I pitched my idea for this blog to the folks in a writing class I took last year, the teacher liked it but wondered how quickly I'd run out of vegetables to write about. It's market days like this one, and farms like Viridian Farms, that give me hope that veggie varieties will continue to surprise me for a long time. Exhibit A: Ficoide Glaciale, or Glacier Lettuce. It reminded me of the Purslane I tried a few months ago. A hint of lemon citrus with a nice crunch. One difference being that Purslane is not a good candidate for sauteing, while glacier lettuce is.
