Top | theweeklyveggie.com — A Vegetable Ignoramus Expands Her Repertoire
(post, Cristin Couzens)
When I was a kid staring down a plate of this week’s vegetable, I was staring at string beans. At least that’s what we called them in the seventies. Now, as an adult who has no reason not to like this week’s vegetable but still isn’t quite there, I’m staring at a plate of green beans. String beans, green beans. I don’t remember the day or even the year that our cultural lexicon shifted. But shift it did. I asked my husband if he remembered ever stringing beans, thinking this might have been a job his Mom would have engaged him in as a kid. “String them? I don’t even know what that means.” Yes. Me neither. Exactly my point. Read more about string beans vs. green beans at The Weekly Veggie. Thanks for visiting!
