Want your food to be safer? Want it to come from sustainable small farms? According to the nonprofit Cornucopia Institute, a set of federal rules aiming at the former are making things tough for the latter. California's Leafy Green Marketing Agreement, created in the wake of the E. coli-laced spinach catastrophe of 2006, may soon go nationwide, forcing all greens farmers to follow tougher guidelines for crop safety.
