Sam Fromartz, the blogger behind Chews Wise, recently apprenticed with a traditional bread-baker in Paris. He chronicled the amusing, floury results for the travel magazine Afar, and then added his own, scaled-down version of the bakery's master baguette recipe to his blog. "Surprisingly, it is the top item on Google for 'baguette recipe,'" says the modest Fromartz. Not surprising, really: his loaf beat out those of professional bakers in a Washington, D.C., contest.
