Fresh Summer Salsa

This recipe is best when made with the freshest, most in-season tomatoes.


  1. 5 to 6 tomatoes
  2. 1 to 2 onions
  3. 2 tomatillos
  4. 1 jalapeño (or more to taste, but watch out, they’re HOT)
  5. 3 cloves of garlic
  6. 1 handful of fresh cilantro
  7. 8 to 10 fresh basil leaves
  8. ¼ cup lemon or lime juice


  1. Chop the first seven ingredients and mix together in a large bowl or put in the food processor. Squeeze a ¼ cup or more of lemon or lime juice to taste. Mix well and enjoy with tortilla chips or on tacos or nachos.
