 h1. Dear readers,
One of Culinate's missions is to create an online community of people who enjoy learning about real food and exploring new cooking options. Certainly, the art of canning foods is not such a new thing — but it is one that's being rediscovered … in a big way.

We support the Cans Across America project, organized by [/columns/tabletalk?utmsource=NL20090805&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=Tabletalk&utmcampaign=SummerGiveaways "Kim O'Donnel" newpage=true] and others, and to help publicize the effort, we will give away a starter canning kit provided by Jarden Home Brands, and a copy of the Ball Blue Book of Preserving. Just leave a comment on [/user/Kim/blog/cansacrossamericagiveaway?utmsource=NL20090805&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=CansAcrossAmerica&utmcampaign=SummerGiveaways "my blog"], with your own story about home-canned foods, and you could win.

We're also giving away 12 excellent publications by the Taunton Press, to the individual who adds the most friends on Culinate during the months of July, August, and September. For details, go to our [/mix/contestsandgiveaways/cookbookfridays?utmsource=NL20090805&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=CBF&utmcampaign=SummerGiveaways "Cookbook Friday"] page; for instructions about adding friends, go to our [/culinate/faqmemberpages?utmsource=NL20090805&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=CBFAddingFriends&utmcampaign=SummerGiveaways "Member Page FAQ"] page.

And thanks, as always, for joining us.
