 h1. Dear readers,

Lisa Hamilton's new book, [/books/collections/allbooks/deeplyrooted?utmsource=NL20090603&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=Book-DeepRooted&utmcampaign=LisaHamilton "Deeply Rooted"], explores the lives of three "unconventional" farmers. Not only is the book a tribute to these individuals and their families, but it's also about agricultural practices that veer away from industrialized farming.

On Culinate this week, Twilight Greenaway [/articles/theculinateinterview/lisam.hamilton?utmsource=NL20090603&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=InterviewLisaHamilton&utmcampaign=LisaHamilton "talks with Lisa about her book"] and about her convictions that the cost of food should reflect the hard work that goes into it and the toll its production takes on the environment. Says Lisa, "Good, healthy food is a human right, but three hamburgers a day? There’s no way that that can be a human right and also be sustainable."

Also, I heartily recommend the slide show of people and places in the book on Lisa's website.
