 h1. Dear readers,
As the Obama White House announces mandates on money, science, and foreign policy almost daily, there's something for everyone coming out of Washington, D.C., these days.

But I have to admit that my biggest "Right on!" moment of the week came yesterday, when I saw in the New York Times that Michelle Obama is making healthful food a priority.

What does good food mean for the First Family? Fruits and veg are at the top of the list; apparently the White House buys direct from farms in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. And then there was this quote from Ms. Obama: “When you grow something yourself and it’s close and it’s local, oftentimes it tastes really good."

No word yet on when that White House garden will be planted.

As for me, I'm getting inspiration for my small garden from another woman as well: author [/author/BarbaraKingsolver?utmsource=NL20090311&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=BarbaraKingsolver&utmcampaign=FirstLadyFood "Barbara Kingsolver"], whose [/books/collections/allbooks/Animal2C+Vegetable2C+Miracle?utmsource=NL20090311&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=BarbaraKingsolver&utmcampaign=FirstLadyFood "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle"] is keeping me up nights, with plenty of "Right on!" moments.
