The fact that I liked straight butter and white sugar did not keep me from trying other sugary snacks. One of my favorites for many years: melting sugar and brown sugar. And then eat it with a spoon, generally burning the roof of my mouth. It's a wonder I still have any teeth. I recently found out it was one of my mother's favorite snacks when she was a kid--apparently there's some genetic coding of butter and sugar in our DNA.
