Break the plastics habit

Plastics. What should we make of them? They're poisoning us with bisphenol A — or they're not. They're great for storing food — or they're not. 

Two recent articles offer more plasticky data to chew over: a top-10 list of plastics to ditch in your household, and an investigative feature in Fast Company about the whole BPA controversy, titled "The Real Story Behind Bisphenol A."

Here's just one devastating quote from the Fast Company piece:

bq. Of the more than 100 independently funded experiments on BPA, about 90 percent have found evidence of adverse health effects. On the other hand, every single industry-funded study ever conducted — 14 in all — has found no such effects.
