Dear readers, I remember the first time I tasted Scharffen Berger chocolate, about 10 years ago; I had never tasted chocolate that good. Now comes the news that one of the founders of Scharffen Berger, Robert Steinberg, has died. Many bloggers knew him personally; I knew him only through his chocolate, but that was enough to mourn his passing and celebrate his passion. In honor of Steinberg's life, and his contribution to chocolate, we bring you one of our favorite recipes, [/books/collections/allbooks/The+Essence+of+Chocolate/Fudgy+Brownies?utmsource=NL092408&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=FudgyBrownies&utmcampaign=ScharffenBerger-RobertSteinberg "Fudgy Brownies"], from the book [/books/bookreviews/The+Essence+of+Chocolate?utmsource=NL092408&utmmedium=email&utmcontent=EssenceOfChocolate&utmcampaign=ScharffenBerger-RobertSteinberg "The Essence of Chocolate,"] by Steinberg and his colleague John Scharffenberger.
