Big ag chemical company Monsanto announced recently that it was dumping its dairy hormone business. Marketed under the brand name Prosilac, the hormone makes cows produce more milk; milk cartons that boast they're free of rGBH or rBST mean the milk inside comes from cows kept free of the hormone. Apparently Monsanto wants to focus on GMO seed development instead. Or maybe the Prosilac venture just wasn't profitable anymore, with all those cartons of milk proudly declaring themselves hormone-free.
