June 17 Market Update

(post, Lloyd Farmers' Market)

Hood strawberries will be available this week from Unger Farms, Sulina and Bay’s Farm and Greenville Farm. The string of warm sunny days should help other fruits and vegetables too. Packer Orchards and Baird Family Orchards should be bringing cherries but we may not know for certain until early Tuesday morning since the harvest is still a bit slow. Other crops will be coming to the market over the next few weeks. Sulina and Bay’s Farm and Greenville Farm will be bringing a lot more over the next few weeks. City Garden Farms will be coming to the market as soon as there is enough crops to harvest. Springwater Farm will be bringing its cultivated maitake, shitake and nameko mushrooms and wild morels, porcini (maybe) and white truffles.

A new vendor, Russell Breads, starts this week with a variety of European style breads. Little Pots and Pans is expanding its menu this week with a variety of packaged salads. Serious Bread will be back with pita, bagels and its Toast of Portland toasting bread. Rogue Creamery will be bringing its excellent selection of cheeses. Lucy’s Juice will be joining the market starting this week with its selection of fresh squeezed lemonade and juices.

And let’s not forget that warm, sunny weather is good for flowers too. Xiong Farmers will be making beautiful bouquets for you to bring back to your office or home.

See you at the market!
